The Metroplitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala in New York (also known as the Met Gala) was one of the Fashion industry’s most highly anticipated events of 2013. The theme of this year’s soiree featuring the world’s fashion elite and a host of Hollywood stars was Punk: Chaos to Couture. Many of our favourite fashionistas embraced the punk theme wearing pieces which were reminiscent of the punk era. However, some attendees opted for a more traditional red carpet look wearing statement gowns and matching jewellery. This year’s Met Gala certainly lived up to expectations in the style stakes and showcased the finest in couture fashion. Designers from Givenchy to Dior to Michael Kors to Calvin Klein demonstrated their style prowess through a variety of unique and gorgeous creations at this exclusive event.
Sarah Jessica Parker, Madonna, Kerry Washington, Lily Collins, Gwen Stefani and Kelly Osbourne were amongst the celebrities who adhered to the punk theme of the night wearing couture pieces which celebrated this era. With statement headpieces, dark wigs, dramatic eyeliner galore and tarten boots, these stars certainly enjoyed the unique theme of this year’s Met Gala. Many stars chose to go for their signature evening gowns incliuding Gwyneth Paltrow, Chelsea Clinton, Katie Holmes and Jennifer Lawrence. Thus, the Met Gala 2013 showcased versatily in fashion, creativity and the best in couture which confirms that this is Fashion at its finest.
