This s/s 2013 a new catwalk trend has taken over which is straight from the 60’s. It is monochrome a la our favourite 60’s icons.
Monochrome has a classic mix of black and white which screams sophistication! Monochrome can be worn in the form of a dress, statement piece such as a jumpsuit or a chic top and tailored trousers. Jessica Alba wore a chic suit which showcased this trend at Paris Fashion Week 13. Also at the Givenchy show for PFW, the monochrome trend was clearly the theme for the day, with many celebrities wearing this trend in an array of styles. On the front row, power couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West wore this trend in his and hers style. At PFW Nicole Richie also wore this trend in her unique quirky style. At the Grammy’s Beyoncé rocked the monochrome trend effortlessly wearing a monochrome jumpsuit by Osman.
Monochrome has also been incorporated into many s/s 2013 collections including Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton whose dresses include some chequered detailing. This trend is versatile and can be worn in the form of separate pieces, stripes, chequered styles, or simply through statement accessories such as a white watch and black flats for those who are not prepared to go for the whole monochrome look. One thing is for sure, our favourite fashionistas have fully embraced this trend and it has dominated fashion month as the key trend of the season!
Uber glamorous, versatile and simple yet effortlessly chic, it is clear to see that the monochrome trend is here to stay fashionistas.
